WAVELAND, MS (WLOX) - Waveland police will soon have a new place to call home.
According to Chief David Allen, the new police station should be ready by mid-April to early June. Law officers have been working out of a trailer for more than three years. When finished, the new building will also have other functions to help ensure safety.
"The building is also slated to be an emergency operations center for the city itself," said Chief Allen. "We're working hand in hand with the county emergency operations center and we'll be working hand in hand with them to make all of Hancock County a safer place and be able to help and recover in any future incident that happens in this area."
Waveland police officers have worked out of three locations since the police station was destroyed 10 years ago during Hurricane Katrina.
