JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - There are new allegations in the Singing River Health System pension fund case. And this time, the legal brief filed with the Supreme Court is sprinkled with colorful words that compare the pension fund mess to a John Grisham novel.
Attorneys Earl Denham and Harvey Barton filed contempt of court papers on behalf of their client Cynthia Almond. In that 22 page document, they use words like "judicial" and "professional misconduct," and "a system run amuck" to describe what they consider a broad and wide ranging conspiracy.
The attorneys want Judge Breland Hilburn removed from all Singing River Health System cases. In recent days, Hilburn agreed to step down from the cases involving Denham and Barton clients. But, he chose to hear other court arguments against the health system.
They also want special master Britt Singletary removed from the case and charged with unethical behavior.
Singletary hasn't read the motion, but he knows it was filed. He told WLOX News he's over both of those lawyers, and said the motion fails to amuse or frighten him.
