RIO DE JANEIRO (CNN) - Brazil is calling in the military to help in the fight against Zika, the mosquito-borne virus linked to a birth defect.

Brazil is considered ground-zero in the fight.

As carnival ends, Brazil is setting forth a parade of 220,000 Brazilian troops.

Starting Saturday, the troops will go door-to-door for a week to inform Brazilians about Zika.

In their sights are ignorance and the pools of stagnant water mosquitoes breed in.

It's a massive, urgent task.

General Luiz Eduardo Ramos said the soldiers have received lectures about how to proceed, how to approach Brazilians and what to say.

The massive mobilization hopes to get Brazilians who still aren't listening to pay attention and to show the outside world that Brazil is doing everything itcan to combat the outbreak.
