JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department have arrested a suspect in an identity theft case after a month-long investigation.

Sheriff Mike Ezell said 29-yer-old Laura Lashun McCreary, of Moss Point, was arrested Wednesday and charged with false ID fraudulently obtaining goods.

Ezell said the investigation was launched on Jan. 6 after the victim reported their personal information was being used without their consent. Ezell said McCreary used the information to obtain goods in December.

If convicted on the felony charge, McCreary faces up to five years in prison and $5,000 in fines.
