SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - Much of February has brought cooler than normal weather to South Mississippi. For the first time in about a week, we can expect temperatures to warm to near 70 degrees and beyond.
Thanks to southwest winds, warmer air will push into the South Mississippi region on Thursday and Friday. This will boost our temperatures into the upper 60s for coastal locations and lower 70s mainly away from the water.
"Because the water in the Mississippi Sound is relatively cool, about 51 degrees, folks right along the shoreline won't be able to warm quite as much," explained WLOX Meteorologist Wesley Williams.
Will the warm weather last into the weekend?
"Unfortunately not," Williams answered. "A cold front will pass on Friday evening and will bring cooler weather for this weekend. Highs on Saturday will be near 60. And on Valentine's Day Sunday we'll only warm into the upper 50s."
