GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Julisa Matute, 16, died Thursday from injuries she suffered in a horrific crash at Highway 49 and Highway 53 one day earlier. The crash also claimed the lives of her father and sister.

According to Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove, the Harrison Central student was in the front seat of her family's car Wednesday afternoon when a violent collision caused a six-car crash.

Earlier Thursday, Hargrove identified the other victims as Concepcion Matute, 52, of Gulfport, and Rosalinda Matute, 13, of New Orleans.

According to Hargrove, the Matutes were driving a 2015 Nissan Versa and were struck near the intersection of Highway 49 and Highway 53 in Gulfport.

Two victims died at the scene. Julie was taken to a hospital in Mobile and later passed away from her injuries.

The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
