LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) -

Hundreds of senior citizens celebrated Valentine's Day a little early Wednesday. They enjoyed a sweetheart dance at the West Harrison Civic Center on Espy Avenue in Long Beach.

Those who attended were treated to lunch, door prizes and some special entertainment. A Tom Jones look-a-like kept the crowd engaged by singing familiar hits and getting people on the dance floor.

A local home healthcare business organized the event as a way to say "thank you" to area seniors.

"We wanted to show our appreciation," said Vivian Champaigne, with Praetorian Health Services. "And you know, just because we go in the home and help people doesn't mean that they're old, seniors. As you can see by the video, they're alive and going strong, and we're here to help them."

More than 200 area seniors attended today's sweetheart event.
