BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A Biloxi Police officer was struck by a car while directing traffic following the Gulf Coast Carnival Association's Mardi Gras parade on Tuesday.

The officer was hit while directing traffic on Division Street. He was taken to Merit Health to be treated for minor injuries. Police said the accident it still under investigation, but it does not appear to be alcohol related.

A total of 11 arrests were made by the Biloxi Police Department during the parade. Charges include felony and misdemeanor drug possession, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and possession of alcohol by a minor.

The Alcohol Beverage Commission also issued 45 citations for various alcohol related offenses.
