BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) -

The fiancee of one of the Pass Christian shooting victims says her boyfriend of 9 years was an innocent bystander following the parade.

Deesther Simpson said 43-year-old Isaiah Major III of Bay St. Louis, who is known by his close friends as "Winky", died in her arms minding his own business.

Simpson said she, Major, and their six children were leaving the parade when Major stopped his car near the corner of Davis Avenue and Ladnier Street to say hello to a friend he had not seen in a while.

Simpson said minutes later the gunfire started. She said two men she had never seen before started shooting at each other. She said she didn't get a good look at either of the shooters because of the chaos when the crowd scattered.

Simpson said she got down on the floorboard of the car after she heard the gunfire. She believes between 10 to 15 rounds were unloaded.

She says when she raised her head from the floorboard she saw her fiancee coming back toward their car.

"And I seen him standing in the doorway of the car. He leaned in, to show me he had gotten shot. He brought me all the way down to the ground so I knew he was gone. He died in my arms, he was a really, really good guy," said a very emotional Simpson.
