HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Harrison County supervisors agreed on Monday to support plans for a county fair.

Justin Skinner has been organizing plans for the inaugural event at the Harrison County fairgrounds. He told supervisors the dates have now been set.

The first Harrison County Fair will be in early September.

Skinner says it will be a family friendly event with a rodeo, entertainment, midway rides and 4-H exhibits and competition.

He invited supervisors to help kick-off opening day with a "wagon train".

"The same wagon train that goes up to the Dixie Nationals, they'd ride that wagon train in from McHenry, come into the arena before the start of the rodeo," said Skinner. "You guys would lead the way in the wagon hitch with the Clydesdales."

Supervisors agreed to work with Skinner on the details for the event. The dates for the fair are Wednesday, September 7th through Sunday, September 11th.

Full-time Waveland city workers, primarily police officers, who take-home vehicles outside of the city limits could see a change to the city's policy soon. City leaders said the current policy is antiquated and needs to be rewritten into something that would benefit both the officers and the taxpayers.
