JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A man is in custody after hitting a pedestrian with his vehicle in Jackson County Saturday morning.

Authorities arrived to the 14000 block of Big Ridge Road to find the victim lying in the road. The driver who hit him, Calvin Earl Buchanan, was still on the scene.

Buchanan told officers that he was traveling westbound when he saw the pedestrian walking down the middle of the road but was unable to avoid striking him with his vehicle, a 2004 Cadillac Escalade.
