Gulf Coast Bulldogs open the 2016 JUCO baseball season at MGM Park on Friday

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - It's going to be cold, but that won't stop the Gulf Coast Bulldogs from breaking out the bats at MGM Park in Biloxi.

Bulldogs head coach Rodney Batts got in some practice time at the home of the Biloxi Shuckers this week and MGM Park is going to be the home of Gulf Coast this season.

The Bulldogs open a double-header beginning Friday at 4:00 facing Jackson State Community College out of Tennessee.

Gulf Coach is expected to have a solid pitching staff in 2016.

Coach Batts said, "Our strong suit is going to be our starting pitching.  I feel really good with our starters.  Feel good with the middle of our lineup.  All those are returning guys, so they should carry the load for us."

Bulldog players are enjoying their opportunity to play in a Double-A Stadium.  Gulf Coast is giving their all, every chance they get when they hit the diamond.

First baseman Michael Shubert said, "We want to win, we come to practice every day, grinding, wanting to get through practice really hard, where we're tied after practice and we know we really did something."

If you're going to the game, dress warmly.  Did I say it's going to be cold!
