Vick Ballard has endured a rash of injuries, but is determined to make his way back into the NFL.
The Indianapolis Colts drafted Ballard in the fifth-round in the 2012 NFL draft and enjoyed a banner rookie season by rushing for 814 yards and two touchdowns.
The Pascagoula native who excelled at Mississippi Gulf Coast and Mississippi State, tore his right anterior cruciate ligament in September of 2013 during a non-contact drill in practice and suffered a left Achilies injury in a non-contact session during the 2014 training camp.
The Colts released Ballard with an injury settlement in 2015.
The New Orleans Saints inked Ballard to a futures contract for 2016.
If Ballard can stay healthy, he has a chance to crack the Saints final roster.
Mark Ingram, Khiry Robinson, Tim Hightower and C.J. Spiller are the Saints to returning running backs.
However, Spiller didn't perform like the Saints had expected and Ballard could be the back to unseat the veteran.
The key...stay away from the injury bug.
