GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Leaders from Gulfport and Harrison County got together for a nearly two hour workshop today at the Orange Grove Community Center. All three newly elected county supervisors attended the meeting, along with five city council members.

The purpose was twofold: Getting to know one another and discussing various projects that might cross ward or district lines, affecting both county and city residents.

Road paving and improvement projects were high on the list, including concerns about Canal Road and Landon Road. Needed park improvements were also talked about, along with lighting projects and sidewalk improvements.

Cave-ins along the beach front were also a topic; determining whether the state, county or city is responsible.

All in attendance agreed the meeting was greatly beneficial, and they'd like to make such workshops a regular thing in the future.
