JACKSON, MS (WLOX) - The price tag for Mississippi Power's Kemper County lignite plant has gone up again. Now, the company says it won't be completed and running on lignite until at least September.
Mississippi Power made those disclosures in its monthly financial filings Tuesday.
Construction costs rose another $110 million in December, bringing the total project cost to $6.6 billion.
The power company said customers will not pay anything above the cap set by the Mississippi Public Service Commission.
Kemper's skyrocketing costs mean Mississippi Power's parent company, Southern Company, will record total pre-tax charges to income of $183 million during the fourth quarter 2015.
