Those involved in the oyster industry are sharing information at a conference on the coast this week.
States from North Carolina to Texas are represented at the Gulf and South Atlantic States Shellfish Conference in Biloxi. Industry experts are talking about things like improving oyster reefs and the latest methods of packing and shipping oysters.
Representatives from Mississippi will report on this year's successful season.
"We're doing wonderful. We're at the ninth highest over a 50 year period as we stand to date. And the season's still going on and we hope to do very well," said Scott Gordon with the Department of Marine Resources.
