GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - One man was taken into custody after the Gulfport SWAT Team entered the home he was barricaded in after an hour-long standoff Thursday morning.
Officials tell us Cody Landry, and Army veteran, was taken into custody without incident, and there was also a woman in the house. She is safe and uninjured.
Gulfport police set up a large perimeter around the home, and Central Elementary School was placed on lockdown as a precaution.
Police responded to the home at 1228 24th Street after Frank Blackmarr called police and said Landry pointed some type of assault rifle at him.
Blackmarr said he saw a woman in distress walking down the road, so he picked her up and took her to Landry's house. Blackmarr said that's when Landry came out of the house armed with a gun.
Friends and acquaintances of Landry say he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.
