WLOX Editorial: Mississippi election law revisions needed

WLOX Editorial: The state should properly manage and account for every tax dollar

Many states allow voters to cast ballots in elections up to three weeks before election day, no excuse required. Mississippi does not. Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann wants to change that law. We agree. Early, no excuse voting will improve voter turnout by making it easier to cast ballots for many people who are so busy.

Hosemann also wants to move Mississippi's Presidential Primary from the second Tuesday in March to the First Tuesday in March. We agree. This will give Mississippi a stronger voice in the selection of party nominees.

This is part of a complete revision of Mississippi Election laws.  The revisions are needed to make sure we have smooth and fair elections.

That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to editorials@wlox.com.
