Gulf Coast Bulldogs win an overtime thriller over arch-rival PRCC 105-97


The Pearl River Wildcats had won seven straight games and had the homecourt advantage.  The Gulf Coast Bulldogs used a 3-point bucket by Deshawn Jones with 4.4 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.

Eliel Gonzalez took charge for the Bulldogs in the overtime period and netted nine of his 27 points to lead Gulf Coast under the win column.  Jones scored 23 points and Tedrion Brisco added 17.

Davion Cole-Johnson had 10 points for the Bulldogs (13-1) before he was tossed out of the game in the first half after receiving his second technical foul.

Darryln Willis led the Wildcats (10-4) with 27 points and 9 rebounds. William Brown had 16 points while Dontellius Ross and Teddy Scott each scored 14 points for Pearl River.

The win gives Gulf Coast 4 wins and 1 loss in the South Division race and the loss drops Pearl River to 4 and 1.

The Pearl River Lady Wildcats rallied to beat Gulf Coast 60-57 in the women's game.  The Lady Wildcats rallied from an 8-point deficit by outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 16-11 in the final quarter.

Shelanita Starks led PRCC (5-8, 2-3 Division) with 12 points, Akayla Powell added 11 points and Shaniqua Magee chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Markeisha Watson led Gulf Coast (9-5, 1-4 Division) with 23 points.
