Mississippi State suffers close road loss at Florida 81-78

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The Florida Gators held off the Mississippi State Bulldogs 81-78 in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.  The Bulldogs fall to 7-10 overall and remain win less in SEC play at 0-5.  The Gators improved to 12-6 and 4-2 in SEC play.

I.J. Ready led Mississippi State with 20 points.  Craig Sword netted 17, Quinndary Weatherspoon added 14 and freshman Malik Newman close out play with 12 points.

The Bulldogs missed two last-second shots and the Gators got the home win.

Mississippi State connected on 30 of 67 shots from the field for 44.8 percent and netted only 6 of 21 shots from 
3-point range.

Florida hit 26 of 58 shots from the field for 44.8 percent and 9 of 21 attempts from 3-point range.  The Gators out rebounded the Bulldogs 45-33.

Dorian Finney-Smith led Florida with 20 points.  Kevaughn Allen chipped in 19 and John Egbunu added 16.

Mississippi State jumps back into SEC play Saturday at 1 p.m. in Humphrey Coliseum, a date with arch-rival Ole Miss.
