Injuries take a toll on Ole Miss as Rebels fall to No. 24 South Carolina 77-74 in OT

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Ole Miss had No. 24 South Carolina on the ropes and led 64-53 with 5:17 remaining in regulation after Rebels guard Stefan Moody sent up an alley oop to Terence Davis for a layup.

On that play, Moody suffered a left hamstring injury and his play was limited after that.

With the quick-footed eagle eye Moody going full-speed, the Gamecocks rallied and netted 11 unanswered points to force overtime.

Forward Michael Carrera would sink a layup and free throw in the final 31 seconds of OT to lead South Carolina
(12-6, 2-4 SEC) past the Rebels 77-74.

A crowd of 7,427 fans at the Pavilion watched the Rebels drop their third consecutive game.

Two Ole Miss starters didn't play against the Gamecocks.  Saiz underwent surgery to repair a partially detached retina and Newby also sat out the game with a right eye issue.

Moody led Ole Miss with 24 points to become the 38th Ole Miss player to join the 1,000 point club.  He accomplished the feat in 52 games.
