STARKVILLE, MS (WLOX) - Mississippi State and Ole Miss battled neck and neck in the first period before the 10th ranked Lady Bulldogs dominated the second quarter and headed into halftime holding a 39-23 lead.
Mississippi State gave up only 8 points in the second quarter thanks to a rock solid defensive effort. Morgan William led the Lady Bulldogs (17-2, 4-1 SEC) with 16 points. Chinwe Okorie netted 14 while freshman Jazzmun Holmes of Gulfport by way of Harrison Central High School had 6 assists, 2 points and 2 rebounds.
Mississippi State has won 12 of their last 13 games while the Lady Rebels (9-9, 1-4 SEC) have dropped four straight games. Shandricka Sessom led Ole Miss with 14 points.
The Lady Bulldogs defense forced the Lady Rebels to shoot just 33.9 percent (19 of 56) from the field.
