D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) -

Don't ignore an out-of-order bag on a gas pump. If you do, it could result in a gasoline spill that shuts down the service station.

That's what happened today at the Kangaroo on Rodriguez Street in D'Iberville.

According to police, someone took the out-of-service bag off a gas pump and began pumping gas from it. The result was 65 gallons of gas spilling all over the ground.

The D'Iberville police and fire departments responded along with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality. The station's pumps were closed for a few hours during the cleanup, but no one was hurt.

Officials say crews were able to prevent the gas from spreading through storm drains.
