MS Supreme Court upholds ruling that insurance did not cover home destroyed by Grand Casino barge

JACKSON, MS (WLOX) -

The Mississippi Supreme Court has ruled against a Harrison County woman whose beachfront home was destroyed during Hurricane Katrina.

Cherri Porter claimed that the destruction was the result of a barge owned by Grand Casino of Biloxi, which broke free of its moorings and collided with her East Beach Boulevard home.

Thursday, the court upheld a lower court's ruling that her insurance did not cover damage caused by water or windstorm.

Porter had filed the lawsuit against both the Grand Casino and State Farm Insurance.
