BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Roads torn apart in east Biloxi have been a headache for drivers for quite some time. An update on the construction project revealed that those headaches won't let up anytime soon.

This is a three year, $355 million infrastructure project. Construction crews have torn up practically all of the roads within the designated construction zone, but they are only working on a small area at a time. That's left not only residents frustrated, but city leaders as well. Contractors updated council members on the progress Tuesday night, and the news wasn't exactly good. They described work as "moving slower than expected" and said Division Street would take at the least another year to get paved.

"Even if it comes down to paving a few streets that have to be torn back up so our residents can at least have some type of peace, some kind of quality of life. And that's the problem - the quality of life in the community is not satisfactory," said Ward Two Councilman Felix Gines.

Councilman Gines said he is also looking for answers about who will fix the cars that have allegedly been damaged from traveling the roads.
