Man accused of setting fire that destroyed Gulfport home

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Early Tuesday morning, Gulfport firefighters battled a blaze at a home on Oakleigh Avenue. According to Gulfport police, Willie McIntosh has been charged with arson for allegedly sparking the fire.

Fire officials say the call came in around 12:30 a.m., as flames could be seen shooting from the roof. Police were blocking traffic in both directions while fire crews worked to put out the blaze. Officials say the fire was contained after about 45 minutes, but investigators remained on the scene for four hours. 

Fire Inspector Tim Regan says the home was vacant, and is now destroyed.
