GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

With the start of this new year, there's a whole new look to the Harrison County Board of Supervisors. Three of the five board members are new.

Angel Kibler-Middleton, Beverly Martin and Kent Jones were all sworn into office Monday and attended their first board meeting shortly after the swearing in ceremony.

New members moved quickly into leadership positions as Beverly Martin was elected board president and Kent Jones was chosen as Vice President.

"It's been a whirlwind morning," Martin admitted, after she chaired her first meeting as board president.

Kent Jones said he's excited by the opportunity to serve. He said basic issues such as drainage and safe playgrounds are the concerns he's hearing from District 4 residents.

Angel Kibler-Middleton said she's passionate about public service. That passion showed as her voice quivered and she teared up while taking the oath of office.

"I look forward to serving the public," she said, "It's an awesome responsibility and one I take very seriously."
