HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

New Year’s Eve usually is a sweet ending to the year for the transportation industry.

And to close out 2015, limousine services on the Coast are extending their New Year’s celebration with a nice lagniappe thanks to Ole Miss and the Sugar Bowl.

Limousine services are bringing out the big guns for people who want to party in style, and safely. King Limo in Gulfport had a monster 24-passenger party bus built just to take advantage of the demand.

“The Sugar Bowl is the second largest event we’ve experienced after the Super Bowl was in New Orleans a few years ago,” said Salah Darwish, co-owner King Limo.

The end of the year is already and busy time, and business couldn’t be better.

“We just work a little harder right around the new year,” said King Limo driver Shirley Brick. “It’s usually slow from Thanksgiving until the first of the year, and then we start picking up and we just keep going and going and going.”

For Windy Swetman of Luxury Limos in Biloxi, it will be the biggest Sugar Bowl for his business since he started in 1998.

“We usually book about half the fleet that goes to New Orleans,” Swetman said. “This year, we’re going to book out 100 percent. As soon as it was announced that Ole Miss was in the Sugar Bowl, our phones started ringing with Ole Miss Fans wanting to go to New Orleans.”

The rain may have created problems for some businesses, but it’s been a benefit for limousine business.

“Having a limousine or executive car, your driver does curbside service, so regardless of the weather, our clients are getting curbside service,” Swetman said. “That’s definitely a selling point for the transportation industry.”
