BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

The Biloxi City Council approved what should be the final payment related to the ballpark's construction on Tuesday. What still needs to be tabulated is MGM Park's final price tag. Last week, WLOX News reported the construction costs will be right at the city's $36 million budget limit.

But, sources said other expenses would put the final tally over that figure.

"We're paying attention. Numbers are my friend. I like to look at where we are plus or minus the variances and what is extraordinary. But I think we're in reason of where we need to be," Mayor Biloxi Fofo Gilich said.

Biloxi used a combination of state funds and a $21 million bond to pay for MGM Park.

We're told by sources any costs above the city's budget limit will likely be paid out of Biloxi's general fund.

Full-time Waveland city workers, primarily police officers, who take-home vehicles outside of the city limits could see a change to the city's policy soon. City leaders said the current policy is antiquated and needs to be rewritten into something that would benefit both the officers and the taxpayers.
