BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Even before Christmas decorations begin to come down, people are already loading up on another kind of present - fireworks.

However, recent wet weather has been creating problems for firework stands hoping to cash in on the celebration.

“It's been terrible,” said Robert Anderson of Snap, Krackle Pop fireworks stand on Cedar Lake Road in Biloxi. “The rain. Every day, every day. I hope it will go away.”

But, Anderson says it's not yet time to worry. New Year’s Eve day is the best day for sales.

“It’s not one week before, it’s the day,” Anderson said. “And if it don’t rain, it’ll be all right. It’ll be a good season. If it rains, it’ll be bad.”

Anderson’s store has plenty of monster packets. For $700 and a strong back, buyers can take home his biggest party package: The Godfather. America’s Elite package is new and could be a big seller.

But - every year - the biggest sellers are the standard sparklers and bottle rockets.

Teen cousins Jayden Middleton and Bear O’Neal began buying their own fireworks when they got their own jobs.

“I started work and I’ve got my own money and I’m like, ‘Hey guys, I’m going to go buy some fireworks to shoot this year,” O’Neal said. “And they’re like, ‘Wow, he’s actually buying his own fireworks this time.’"

The cousins continue to buy the bottle rockets and sparklers, but to bring in 2016 they want something a little more to fire on their family’s property.

“We were looking for mortars,” O’Neal said. “Basically, you light them and they shoot up and they make a big explosion. But we were looking for the smaller ones that make like a tinier explosion."

For Jayden, a successful firework isn’t just the big bang.

“Anything that makes you smile at the end of the day,” Jayden said.

And for those wondering, rain won’t be a problem.

“I’ve fired fireworks in all types of weather,” Middleton said. “Rain, cold, while it’s hot. Nothing ever stops us.”
