BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

A group that can be easily overlooked is being remembered this holiday season. That's hanks to the Angel Tree Program's Prison Fellowship.

Main Street Baptist, New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, St. John Baptist and the Salvation Army all worked to make sure children with parents behind bars unwrap a gift this Christmas.

The donors gave either money or toys for close to 200 children on the coast. Organizers said it's a way to let the kids know they are remembered.

"We're doing it because their parent is incarcerated. Their mom, dad or grandparent, we want them to know that they are not forgotten about. That they are loved," said Devon Doughty. "Jesus is love and we want to show the kids love. Their parents are incarcerated and we want them to know that their parents have not forgotten about them."

The group will head to Bay St. Louis tomorrow to provide presents to children there also.

Full-time Waveland city workers, primarily police officers, who take-home vehicles outside of the city limits could see a change to the city's policy soon. City leaders said the current policy is antiquated and needs to be rewritten into something that would benefit both the officers and the taxpayers.
