DIAMONDHEAD, MS (WLOX) -

Diamondhead resident Virginia Simons is hoping for a Christmas miracle this week: the safe return of her beloved cat, Sylvester. The pet was attacked by a coyote over the weekend, right in the owner's backyard.

"He had Sylvester's entire head in his mouth," Ms. Simons recalled, as she described the harrowing encounter.

She yelled at and ran toward the coyote, which then dropped the cat. Sylvester then ran in the opposite direction, but she hasn't seen him since.

Simons was also surprised to find out other nearby neighbors had cats that came up missing recently.

Diamondhead police have been alerted and are on the lookout. Simons has also passed out fliers around her neighborhood, hoping someone may spot Sylvester, who is a big Maine Coon tuxedo cat with black and white fur.
