BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Dozens of children are in the full swing of Christmas thanks to the Elk's Lodge in Biloxi.

Sirens and flashing lights kicked off the annual Christmas party at the Elk's Lodge in a festive way. School buses paraded along Highway 90, escorted by fire and police vehicles. Students arrived to the lodge to the greetings of a crowd including Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and other Christmas characters.

Drizzling weather conditions weren't enough to keep the spirits of the children from soaring.

"It's the most important party of the year for most all of our Elk members," said party chairman, David Poulos.

The lodge has hosted the party for more than six decades. Poulos has organized and led the party for more than half that time. He says it's easily one of his favorite events every year.

"Seeing the kids. That's the main thing," said Poulos.

Nearly 100 students and their teachers and caretakers converged on the lodge for the celebration. Skits and songs filled the hall and smiles could be seen all around.

"You can see how much fun they're having. So, when they're having fun we're having fun," said Gregory Roberson, whose son, Aaron, was nominated to be one of the 2015 kings of the Christmas party.

Each child was given a gift thanks to donations by members of the Elk's Lodge. Tracie Bauer says the festivities were a thrill for her granddaughter, Leah.

"Oh, we're enjoying it. Today is Leah's party," said Bauer.

Many of gifts given at the event were in memory of Elk member, Albert Jacquet.
