Unbeaten St. Martin is ready to compete in a National Basketball Tournament in Disney

ST. MARTIN, MS (WLOX) -

The St. Martin Yellow Jackets basketball team has ripped off 11 consecutive wins under the leadership of head coach Charlie Pavlus.

His Yellow Jackets have been consistent winners the past three seasons and they'll receive a stern test beginning 3 p.m. Thursday.

St. Martin will be competing in a major high school basketball tournament in Disney, facing a team from Pennsylvania.

Coach Pavlus said, "We will take on Chartiers Valley, Pennsylvania on Thursday.  They have two players averaging over 23 points per game.  It will be our toughest challenge to date.  We will also play 12:30 on Friday and 10:45 Saturday morning."

He added, "In our bracket are teams from Colorado, Kentucky, New York, Utah.  Some of the top-ranked teams in those states.  It's going to give our program an opportunity to go out and see how good we are verses the some of the best teams in the country."

Senior guard Stacee St. Julian is netting 24 points per game but he won't be at full-speed.  He sprained his ankle in the Yellow Jackets win over Gautier Monday night.  He says that won't keep him out of the starting lineup.  He added that team play has been the big reason St. Martin heads to Orlando with an unbeaten record.

"Everybody is stepping up to the plate, "stated St. Julian.  "Everybody is playing hard.  Everybody is playing up to their potential and that's the main reason why we are undefeated right now because everybody is doing their part."
