SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) -

Mississippi legislators took time to talk about some of the state’s most discussed issues at the 2016 pre-legislative briefing hosted by the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce.

Topics included healthcare, education, BP settlement funds, broadband Internet, historical tax credits and the gaming industry.

Questions submitted from members of the Coast community were presented to a board of three legislators. Sen. Sean Tindell, Rep. Richard Bennett and Rep. Scott DeLano each answered questions with the possibilities that could come from the next legislative session.

One topic that seemed to fuel interest in all three legislators was the possibility of high-speed Internet coming to the Coast.

DeLano praised Biloxi Mayor FoFo Gilich for his efforts to bring a fiber optic network to the Coast. DeLano called the idea a game changer.

Jonathan Brannan will have more from the meeting later on WLOX News and on WLOX.com.
