The search is over for a suspect accused of stealing a brand new, still in the box refrigerator from a home on Johnson Still Road. Now, investigators are saying the same man could be responsible for several burglaries in D’Iberville, Jackson County and Harrison County.

Capt. Marty Griffin, with the D’Iberville Police Department, said John Turner Sanders, Jr., 45, was identified as the suspect just hours after police released surveillance video to media outlets.

Griffin said D’Iberville police were contacted by sheriff’s deputies in Lamar County after a family member recognized Sanders.

Lamar County Sheriff’s deputies were actively looking for Sanders when they reportedly found him driving the same truck officials believe he used in the home burglary. Officials say he was also hauling a trailer with a refrigerator on it. Police believe that was the refrigerator that was stolen from the D’Iberville home.

Sanders was arrested in Lamar County and charged with possession of stolen property. He is being held without bond at the Lamar County Jail.

Griffin said the D’Iberville Police Department has a warrant on Sanders for burglary with a bond of $100,000. Investigators are on the way to Lamar County to speak with Sanders in an attempt to locate and recover stolen property.
