JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A fiery 18-wheeler crash on Interstate 10 in Jackson County had traffic backed up for hours Tuesday. We’re told all lanes have reopened, but traffic moving through the area could still be delayed.

Officials tell us the 18-wheeler was carrying fire extinguishers. The cab broke free from the trailer and ended up in the woods off I-10 while the trailer caught fire on Old Fort Bayou Road.

Crews worked for hours to extinguish the fires, clear up the wreckage and clean up diesel fuel that had spilled from the truck.

Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol said the driver of the 18-wheeler was injured and transported to an area hospital.
