Vancleave Home Burns To The Ground, Neighbors Fear Owners Still Inside

Forest Crest residents shocked by what they see patiently wait and hope this fire's not as bad as it seems.

Neighbor Harold McMillan was one of the first to see the flames.

He and another resident, worried their neighbors could be inside, tried to help.

"The fire was in the back of the house, the smoke was all coming out of the back of the house," McMillan says,"He kicked the door down. Smoke just billowed out, we couldn't go in. We started calling for them, but we didn't get any response from our hollering."

Harold McMillan is good friends with the couple who live at this home.

McMillan says the couple has no car, and if they're not out with his car or their relatives, chances are they're at home.

"It bothers me because I'm almost sure they're in that house,"McMillan says.

The flames are now gone and firefighters are just waiting to start searching the debris for clues.

Although no one knows just yet if the couple is inside the home, investigators say it doesn't look good.
