The Milwaukee Brewers announced at the winter meetings that Biloxi Shuckers manager Carlos Subero has been named the Brewers first base and infield coach for the 2016 season.
Subero completed a super season in guiding the Shuckers to the Southern League championship finals. The Double-A Shuckers won the first-half of the Southern Division title with a 47-29 record. Biloxi ended the regular season with the best overall record in the Southern League at 78-59.
The Shuckers swept the Pensacola BlueWahoos in the South Division Series playoffs and lost to Chattanooga three games to two in the championship finals.
Biloxi was named the Baseball America Team of the Year. The Shuckers also earned MiLB.com's MILBy award Game of the Year for the home opening victory on June 6.
Subero was selected 2015 Southern League Manager of the Year after 15 years in the minor leagues.
On Monday Shuckers shortstop Yadiel Rivera was named to the Arizona Fall League 2016 Top Prospects Team.
The Arizona Fall League is a graduate school for top Major League prospects.
