GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

A debate continues in Gulfport between the city and a developer.

There are about a dozen oak trees on the property that used to house the Gulf Regional Planning Commission on Pass Road. The owner of that property is hoping to eventually remove five of those trees for parking.

When she originally made the request, the city was reluctant and asked for a site plan. The owner hired an engineer to develop a plan and presented that to the city. But the city rejected the request in October.

Now, the owner has decided to appeal that decision in this week's council meeting.
