Southern Miss won't hold anything back against Western Kentucky in C-USA title game

When Southern Miss head coach Larry Fedora left for North Carolina, the Golden Eagles football program took a nose dive and Fedora was partly to blame for not going out and securing quality recruits.

That has all changed, thanks to 3rd year head coach Todd Monken.

On Saturday morning at 11, Southern Miss battles Western Kentucky in Bowling Green for the Conference-USA title.

Southern Miss head coach Todd Monken has the Golden Eagles proudly flying high, one win away from claiming the Conference USA title.

Southern Miss dominated Louisiana Tech 58 to 24 to win the West Division title, securing a 9th win in 12 games and take aim on the 10 and 2 Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky.

Mullens completed 24 of 37 passes for 386 yards 3 touchdowns and one interception in the win over La. Tech.
Hilltoppers quarterback Brad Doughty has become the first player in Division I history to have consecutive seasons of 4,000 passing yards and 40 touchdowns.

Coach Monken says his Golden Eagles won't hold anything back in Saturday's Conference USA championship game.

"There's nothing to hold back, "stated Monken.  "There's nothing to be scared of.  You have to be aggressive.  You have to be willing going for it on fourth down.  You have to be willing to go for onside kicks.  You have to believe you can get it in from the one yard line.  I know that's their mindset. I've watched them all year.  That's our mindset."

Monken's offense has established team season school records with 297 completions, 4,082 yards passing and 64 total touchdowns.

Southern Miss has bagged 34 touchdowns that have taken less then two minutes off the clock. You can expect a shootout in Bowling Green on Saturday.

Western Kentucky has been tabbed an 8 point favorite over the Golden Eagles.
