BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Biloxi city leaders are doing their best to work through the problems that have come along with the east Biloxi infrastructure project.

The city received updates Tuesday from the project engineers on the progress of the multi-million dollar infrastructure project. Amongst those updates was an announcement that the project manager is leaving, and a new project manager with HNTB engineering firm will step in. There's no indication that change will impede the progress of the project, but residents have been complaining they don't really see any progress.

Tony Morrow with Oscar Renda Contracting said he understands their frustration, but as of Tuesday they have installed 50 percent of the pipe, and now their main focus is preparing Division Street for paving. He's said they have faced delays on that portion of the project due to design revisions.

We're maintaining twice as much roadways as we should be, because of engineering errors and I know that citizens are frustrated. I'm frustrated. I don't want to have to maintain these roadways. I want to put asphalt down and I hope that the residents would bear with us,” said Morrow.

The city's acting engineer is also in the process of making better online maps that will detail which streets are finished and which ones are currently under construction. Residents will be able to access these on the city's website in the coming months.

Full-time Waveland city workers, primarily police officers, who take-home vehicles outside of the city limits could see a change to the city's policy soon. City leaders said the current policy is antiquated and needs to be rewritten into something that would benefit both the officers and the taxpayers.
