OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

A trend that's gaining traction nationwide is impacting nonprofits here on the Coast in a good way. You may be familiar with the days after Thanksgiving taking on meaning of their own.

Such as Black Friday, Shop Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. For several years now, Giving Tuesday has been picking up momentum.

The day encourages people to get out, go to their community nonprofits and give back to those organizations that help the community.

One of the many Coast organizations that benefit from the day is the Bethesda Free Medical Clinic in Ocean Springs.

The clinic offers several medical services, including some dental services. The clinic's executive director Mary Buffington said she hopes to focus on improving the dental equipment from this year's giving Tuesday.

"We don't charge. We don't do a means test. We're one hundred percent free. So, therefore, we need all the help we can get from the community. We have no government funds, state or federal. We depend entirely on the support of the community," said Buffington.

To find out more about how you can do your part in giving back to the Bethesda Clinic or any other non-profits, just go to https://www.givegab.com/campaigns and search through the list of active campaigns.
