Jackson Co. residents will start seeing property tax bills

JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Beginning Tuesday, Dec. 1 Jackson County property tax billing statements will start being mailed. According to tax collector Joe Tucker, roughly 60,000 Jackson County property owners will receive a statement soon. The statements show taxes due from Jan. 1, 2015 through Dec. 31, 2015.

Property owners have until Feb. 1, 2016 to pay their 2015 bill without penalties or fines. Any property taxes paid before Dec. 31, 2015 may be deducted from your 2015 income taxes.

If you own prior year taxes contact the chancery clerk's land records at 228-769-3029. You must pay all prior year property taxes first and in full before paying your 2015 property taxes.

You may pay your Jackson County property tax bill at the county's service complex in Pascagoula, the West Jackson County office on Highway 609, through the mail or online www.co.jackson.ms.us.

Payments won't be taken over the phone.

A processing fee will be applied to all VISA, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express card payments as follows:

·         3% fee for all online and mail-in payments

·         1% (minimum of $1) fee for debit card payments made in person

·         2.5% (minimum of $2.95) fee for credit card payments made in person

For questions about the appraised value of your property call the county’s assessors office at 228-769-3199.
