SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) -

Today is Cyber Monday, a growing phenomenon on the American retail landscape. Last year, Americans spent more than $2.5 billion shopping online on Cyber Monday. That amount is expected to grow significantly this year.

Meanwhile, spending on Black Friday in brick and mortar stores fell by more than $1 billion this year.

Cyber Monday just isn't for the big boys anymore. Small retailers on the Mississippi Gulf Coast are seeing the trend to online shopping and are beginning to take part.

Doug Walker visited several of those stores today, including Hillyer House, The Candy Cottage and Bayou Belle in Ocean Springs. He also visited Martin Miazza in Gulfport. All maintain an online sales presence, and the retailers say that is growing every year.

Watch for the story later tonight on WLOX News and on WLOX.com.
