PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) -

Things are busy at the seafood docks in Pass Christian after two oyster reef areas reopened to harvest this morning. Just before noon, two boats were busy unloading their catch, while two more waited in line to offload.

Jeremy Forte, of Jerry Forte Seafood, told us he hopes this busy day is a promising sign that the season can extend past Christmas.

Fisherman Brad Stapleton arrived with 15 sacks of fresh Mississippi oysters.

"Got to make a little Christmas money," Stapleton said while preparing to deliver his catch.

Oyster season was closed all of Thanksgiving week, which is typically a busy time for fishermen and seafood dealers. In fact, the season was closed nearly the entire month of November due to rainfall and high river stages on the Pearl River.

Steve Phillips was on the dock this morning to see what was coming off the boats first-hand. Look for the full story later today on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
