St. Stanislaus and Resurrection win South State titles and are heading to Oxford

St. Stanislaus is heading back to the Class 4A State title game and will tackle Noxubee County in a rematch of last year's championship game.
The Rockachaws used last season's 42-28 loss all season long as motivation with a goal of a possible rematch and they got it.  Noxubee County beat Greenwood 14-7 in the North State championship game Friday night.

St. Stanislaus quarterback Myles Brennan had a career night... passing for 551 yards and seven touchdowns in a decisive 62-28 win over Lawrence County in Monticello Friday night.

The Rockachaws are 11 and 3 on the season and Noxubee County 11 and 4.  The two teams will clash in the Class 4A State Championship game 3 p.m. next Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford.

Top-ranked and undefeated Resurrection remained that way Friday night rushing past Lumberton 23-8 at War Memorial Stadium in Pascagoula to claim the Class 1A South State title and earned a trip to Oxford facing Simmons in the championship game December 4, that's this coming Friday at 11 in the morning.

Simmons beat Smithville 46-0 to win the Class 1A North State championship.

Eagles head coach Larry Sisson used a solid ground game to pound the turf for over 300 yards rushing.  Junior running back Patrick Watts led Resurrection with 188 yards rushing and tallied the Eagles first touchdown on a 2 yard run.

The Class 1A State title game will feature two undefeated teams for a championship game for the first time since 2010.  Resurrection is 13 and 0 and Simmons is 12 and 0.

WLOX will be heading to Oxford for both the Resurrection and St. Stanislaus games.
