BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Budding potters and painters practiced their artistry Saturday at Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art making Christmas ornaments.

About 25 adults and children spent some quality time with the clay at the museum's Center for Ceramics.

Instructors guided each participant as they cut out gingerbread man shapes from sheets of clay and then painted them.

The ornaments will be glazed and fired in the Kiln to be taken and hung on the tree.

“First thing is, you don't have to clean up all the mess afterward. It's always nice. And it's always something nice to have on your tree. Something that your own kids made or you made or maybe it's a good gift for the holidays or something like that,” said Luke Blackwell, instructor.

The museum will have a Family Fun Day on Dec. 5 where people will be given a pre-made ornament to paint.

The event is free.
