Christian Collegiate Academy suffered a tough loss in MAIS championship game

JACKSON, MS (WLOX) -

The 12 and 0 Christian Collegiate Bulldogs beat Tallulah Academy 46-38 on September 25th.

In the rematch...Trojans quarterback Mason Todd proved to be the difference.  He tossed TD passes of 27 and 14 yards go give the Trojans a 12-0 first quarter edge.

CCA quarterback Devon Roberts fired a second quarter TD to Micah Williams.  The Bulldogs trailed 12-7 at the half.

In the locker room coach Joe Roberts told his players, "We knew that this was going to be tough. They're not going to hand it to us right"

Just when it looked as if momentum wouldd swing over to CCA after a great defensive stop on 4th down...Tallulah quarterback Mason Todd woul lead his team to two 3rd quarter touchdowns and led 26-13.

CCA quarterback Devin Roberts got the Bulldogs within 7, 26-19, late in the fourth quarter.

Tullulah Academy's Mason Todd came up with yet another big play.  He ripped-off a late 4th quarter 60-yard touchdown to basically ice the game.

After the game on the field after accepting the second-place trophy coach Roberts praised his Bulldogs for giving everything they had.

"You came out here and laid it all out here today, "stated Roberts.  " I'm proud of you.  I'd go to war with you every day."

He told me, "The day didn't go exactly the way we wanted, but I can say my boys fought hard today and never laid down."

CCA quarterback Devin Roberts, the coaches son said, "Tallulah smashed us in the mouth and they played well to get the victory.  The loss gives you more reason to fight hard for next season and hope these guys will do it for me next year."

T.J. Clolinger stood out on both sides of the football for the Bulldogs.  The CCA junior running back and linebacker threw up on the sidelines in the third quarter but stayed in the game, despite being dehydrated.  He said, "I just care enough for my teammates and put it all on the line for them."

Tallulah, Louisiana defeated CCA 34-35, but one thing I noticed running up and down the sidelines getting the highlights, there was no quit in the CCA Bulldogs.  They gave their all till the very end.
