Ocean Springs students, police collect toys for needy children

Kids and cops are joining forces in Ocean Springs this year to collect Christmas presents for needy children. The Ocean Springs Police Department and the Mayor’s Youth Council are sponsors for "The Gift of Giving: Ocean Springs Toy Drive."

The toy drive will be accepting unwrapped toys beginning Thursday, November 19 until Monday, December 14. The community can drop off items at the Ocean Springs Police Department, 3810 Bienville Boulevard; Ocean Springs City Hall located, 1018 Porter Avenue; Ocean Springs High School, 6701 Old Spanish Trail; Big Lots, 2648 Bienville Blvd.; and Walmart, 3911 Bienville Blvd.

Monetary donations can also be made to The Gift of Giving Ocean Springs Toy Drive at Hancock Bank.

"This project will be such a rewarding experience for all involved because it benefits the children of Ocean Springs and helps build the community by uniting all ages during the holidays," said Cady Cooper, Mayor’s Youth Council President.

"This outreach is a very bright spot in our year, helping us to remember the joys of childhood and the holidays. Our officers, administrators, and civilian personnel look forward every year to bringing many more smiles to the community’s children through this program," said Police Chief Mark Dunston.
